Editorial Standards and Fact-Checking Policy

Clear financial education, grounded in sources readers can check.

Published and last updated August 21, 2026.

Purpose and scope

This policy applies to DueSmart educational articles, guides, course materials, and public explanations of credit and money topics. Our goal is to make complex information understandable without overstating what it can do for any individual reader.

Author accountability

Editorial pages identify an author or the responsible DueSmart team whenever the format allows. Author links lead to a biography that explains relevant experience and the scope of the author's work. The named author remains accountable for clarity, accuracy, sourcing, and appropriate limitations in the published piece.

Review before publication

Material financial education pages receive an editorial review for accuracy, readability, unsupported promises, and alignment with the cited sources. Reviewer credit is shown on applicable articles and links to the DueSmart Editorial Team profile. Review does not turn general education into individualized financial, legal, tax, or credit-repair advice.

Source hierarchy

We prefer original and authoritative sources, including federal and state agencies, regulators, statutes and official guidance, recognized scoring-model documentation, and clearly identified primary research or methodology. When a primary source does not address the question, we may use credible secondary sources and identify them so readers can evaluate the evidence themselves.

Links are placed near the claim they support when practical. We do not cite a source as proof of a claim that the source does not actually make.

Fact-checking and calculations

Editors check names, dates, definitions, numerical examples, formulas, and links against the cited material. Calculators and examples state their assumptions and are tested with representative inputs. Estimates, common guidelines, and illustrative scenarios are labeled so they are not mistaken for guarantees.

Financial claims and limitations

Credit outcomes depend on a person's full credit file, the scoring model used, lender criteria, timing, and other facts. DueSmart does not promise a specific score increase, approval, interest rate, funding amount, or timeline. We distinguish educational steps readers can take from outcomes no publisher can guarantee.

AI-assisted work

Technology may assist with research organization, drafting, formatting, or quality checks. A human author or editor remains responsible for the published result, including verifying sources, removing unsupported statements, and applying this policy.

Commercial independence

Educational conclusions are not changed to satisfy an advertiser, affiliate, or commercial partner. If a page contains a material commercial relationship or affiliate link, DueSmart will disclose it in a way readers can reasonably notice.

Updates and corrections

Pages display a published or updated date when recency matters. We review important content when relevant rules, official guidance, or source material changes. Substantive corrections are made promptly after verification; when a correction materially changes the reader's understanding, we add a visible correction note or update the page's reviewed date.

To report a possible error, send the page URL, the statement in question, and supporting evidence to support@duesmart.com. We review good-faith reports against the underlying evidence and update the content when a correction is warranted.
