Corrections Policy and Public Change Log

Tell us what may be wrong. See how we verify and correct it.

Published and last updated August 24, 2026.

Purpose and scope

This policy applies to factual claims, calculations, source descriptions, limitations, and other material statements in DueSmart's public financial-education content. It works with our Editorial Standards and Fact-Checking Policy.

This process is for correcting DueSmart content. It is not a way to dispute an item with a credit bureau, creditor, lender, or screening company, and it does not provide individualized financial, legal, tax, or credit-repair advice.

What we treat as a material correction

A material correction changes a reader's reasonable understanding of an important fact, calculation, source, limitation, risk, eligibility statement, deadline, or recommended educational step. Examples include a numerical error, a claim unsupported by the cited source, outdated official guidance, or wording that overstates a possible outcome.

Routine spelling, punctuation, formatting, accessibility, navigation, and broken-link repairs may be made without a correction note when they do not change meaning. If a seemingly small edit changes meaning, we treat it as material.

How to report a possible error

Email support@duesmart.com with the subject “Possible content correction.” Include:

  • the exact page URL;
  • the statement, calculation, link, or section you believe is wrong;
  • why you believe it should be corrected;
  • the authoritative source or evidence you want us to review; and
  • an email address if you want a reply.

Do not email credit reports, Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, access codes, full dates of birth, or other sensitive personal information. We do not need that information to review public content.

How we review a report

  1. Identify the exact claim. We preserve the relevant wording, date, cited source, and surrounding context.
  2. Check the evidence. We compare the claim with current primary sources, calculations, and any material supplied by the reporter.
  3. Obtain editorial review. A responsible author or editor evaluates whether the content is accurate, incomplete, outdated, ambiguous, or unsupported.
  4. Make and document the decision. We correct material issues, clarify ambiguous wording, update sources when warranted, or retain the content when the evidence supports it.
  5. Record the outcome. Material corrections receive an updated date and an entry in the public change log below. When practical, we reply to the reporter after review.

We do not accept payment to change an editorial conclusion, and an advertiser, affiliate, partner, customer, or critic does not receive special influence over the evidence review.

What readers will see after a material correction

We update the affected wording and sources, change the visible updated date and matching machine-readable date when appropriate, and add a correction note or change-log entry that explains what changed and why. We do not silently remove a material correction record merely because the correction is inconvenient.

Each future material entry will identify the date, affected page, corrected point, reason, and review basis without exposing private reporter information.

Public change log

This log records material content corrections and major transparency-policy changes. No material factual correction to DueSmart educational guidance has been recorded as of August 24, 2026.

  1. August 24, 2026 — Corrections policy: Published this reporting process and public change log; added a direct reporting channel and linked it from the Credit Command Center.
  2. August 24, 2026 — Credit Command Center transparency: Added visible author, reviewer, publication and update dates, editorial standards, and matching structured data. This was a transparency improvement, not a change to a financial claim.
  3. August 24, 2026 — Credit Command Center structure: Corrected the public page to use one primary H1. This was an accessibility and content-structure improvement, not a change to financial guidance.
